Road Program
New Britain Township's Road Program focuses on maintaining and enhancing the township's extensive roadway network, which includes over 60 miles of township-owned roads and more than 21 miles of state-owned streets.
The Public Works Department oversees various initiatives such as street paving, oil and chip treatments, snow removal, street sweeping, temporary repairs, crack sealing, maintenance of street signs and pavement markings, and tree trimming to ensure safe and efficient travel for residents and visitors.
Recent Road Improvement Projects
- 2024 Road Program: Initiated in August 2024, this program focused on milling and overlay of Brook Lane, Glen Drive, Marshall Circle, and Britain Woods Circle. Additionally, sections of sidewalks on Park Avenue and Cassandra Drive were slated for replacement. Concrete work began on August 26th, 2024, with milling and paving to follow, and was completed by September 30th, 2024.
- 2023 Road Program: Launched in August 2023, this program included milling and overlay of roads like Greenwood Avenue, Maple Avenue, Naomi Lane, and Far View Road.
- 2022 Road Program: Beginning in August 2022, this road program included the milling and overlay of Cedar Hill Road, and Schoolhouse Road (between Railroad Avenue and Boulder Drive).
- 2021 Road Program: Commenced in August 2021, this program included milling and overlay of the following roads: Old Iron Hill Road. (between Ferry Road and Keeley Avenue) and Brittany Drive.
- 2020 Road Program: Launched in August 2020, this program included milling and overlay of roads like Boulder Drive, Airy Avenue, Meadow Road, Midtown Road, and Lexington Avenue.
