New Britain Township is a township located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,327. The township encompasses approximately 15.2 square miles (39.5 km²), with 14.7 square miles (38.1 km²) being land and 0.6 square miles (1.4 km²) (3.61%) water. History

Founded in 1723, New Britain Township originally covered more than 15,000 acres, including areas that are now Chalfont Borough, New Britain Borough, and parts of Doylestown Township. The Lenni Lenape Indians are believed to have arrived in the area as early as 1397. The first European settlers were Welsh, Scottish, and later German immigrants. Historically, the township has been known for iron ore mining, which led to the creation of Lake Galena in Peace Valley Park after the mines were flooded. Iron Hill, which is one of the notable features of the township's industrial past, was a key site for iron production. This contributed to the growth of the area and provided jobs for residents.

The township features historical sites such as the Morgan James Homestead and the Pine Valley Covered Bridge, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The history of New Britain Township reflects its transformation from a bustling iron industry center to a suburban community with a strong commitment to preserving its history and natural beauty.
